Lladros Handmade By Artisans In Spain

Lladro figurines are now made in the City of Porcelain, in the town of Almaserra, Spain. Originally, the three Lladro brothers started this business in 1953 using a firing oven in a garage of the family home. Today they employ more than 2,000 people.

Lladro figurines are sold all over the world.  Lladro figurines are crafted by artisans who must serve as apprentices in the Nao line prior to being allowed to work on the Lladro line of figurines.  The figurines are sculpted and hand painted to an exquisite perfection.

Lladro figurines are sold in specialty boutiques all over the world. Lladro has a website where you can browse presently available figurines and those that have been retired.  You can also purchase a Lladro catalog for browsing and selection.  I purchased a catalog for my wife, who is a collector of Lladro figurines on a small scale.  She uses the catalog on a frequent basis. If you have specific figurine in mind, you might want to visit my estore where I feature Lladros from Spain.

If you happen to break one of your figurines, there are Lladro repair centers where you can send your Lladro figurine to be repaired. The company does not have its own repair shop for Lladro figurines, but if you contact Customer Service, a representative will be able to give you the name of the company that does its repairs in your country.  Authenticity of a Lladro figurine can be verified by checking the underside of the base.  It will have "Lladro stamped there along with the piece number. If you see this, then you are the owner of an authentic figurine of Lladro from Spain.

There are several different series of Lladro figurines – open series, limited series and numbered series. A Lladro figurine from the open series is produced in an unlimited number. In the limited series, there are only a predetermined number of figurines are created and when they are sold, there will be no more.  This  makes these figurines more valuable as collectibles.   The numbered series of figurines by Lladro from Spain are also produced in a limited number and carry a certificate of authenticity.

Along with buying Lladro figurines, you can also buy accessories to complement your Lladro from Spain pieces. These pieces are not made of porcelain like the figurines and include such things as parasols and flowers, which are stuck to the figurines in the firing process. When you purchase Lladro figurines, you can also purchase special insurance against breakage. Purchase of this insurance allows you to become one of the privileged members of the Lladro Company.
